Help for Adolescents
Adolescence can be a difficult time. The formation of social groups and social order, bullying, peer pressure and sexuality bring new challenges for adolescents and teens who have yet to reach emotional maturity. As a parent or teacher, you are the first line of defense for your child, but you may feel helpless as you watch the adolescent in your life struggle emotionally.
Fortunately, you are not alone. There are ways to support the mental health of your child.
Adolescent Group Therapy Sessions
Therapy with adolescents requires a unique approach to build consensus, camaraderie and trust. DML Psychological convenes group therapy sessions on an ongoing basis to help your child manage and overcome the emotional barriers that may be holding him or her back - in a comfortable, supportive group setting.
Our group therapy sessions address common issues including but not limited to:
Depression
Bullying
Sexuality
Social Anxiety
Eating Disorders
Divorce
Child Abuse and Neglect
Low-Self Esteem
Therapy groups are typically comprised of 3-8 members who are pre-screened and grouped based on commonalities. Group therapy sessions last 50 minutes and must be booked in advance. These sessions are great for young people who may feel more comfortable working through specific challenges in a supportive group setting of their peers.
***a preliminary interview will be used to determine if this session is appropriate for your needs.
